This paper aims to discuss the emergence of global language in business names. The paper focuses on
discussing global language and its roles in business names. The basic question that guide the research and
data collection is to what extent business names use global language? Onomastics theory in term of Socio-
Onomastics Approach guided the data collection and its analysis. Data was collected through interviews,
observations and text analysis. The Qualitative method was used in the data analysis. The findings revealed
that, despite global language being commonly used in social media, business names also use global
language. Uses of abbreviation, code switching, name switching, insertion and deletion are examples of
global language in business names. The paper also identified the roles of global language in business names
as businessmen seeking fame, keeping up with the times, advertising the quality of the business, identifying the real names of businessmen, minimise spaces and promoting the use of Swahili Language. The paper
suggested that another research to be conducted so as to reveal more uses of languages in business names.
