This article compares stylistic between kasida and nashidi in Kiswahili literature within the Zanzibar community. The study is motivated by the prominence of these genres in religious and social contexts. The main objective is to identify shared stylistic features between the two forms. Data were collected through document analysis and interviews with composers and performers of kasida and nashidi. A descriptive approach was used in analyzing the data. The study is guided by Structuralism Theory, which emphasizes the analysis of linguistic and structural elements in literary works. Findings reveal that kasida and nashidi share several stylistic features such as repetition, poetic language, figurative expressions, use of grammatical persons, as well as proverbs and symbolism. The study concludes that the two genres are closely related in their artistic use of language in Kiswahili literature.
